The Stewards Group recently supported the purchase of snowshoes for CLEC to use in their winter programs. Clear Lake visits area schools in the winter when the Education Center is shut down. The staff also work with other organizations to provide snowshoe experiences and outdoor learning activities. Some of their recent programs have included Habitats and Winter Nature Detectives. Interim Secretary, Gayle Bradley, requested CLEC's participation in a snowshoe outing with the Delta County Non-motorized Trail group at the West Escanaba Recreation Area.

Virtual meetings have been our best means to stay connected with each other when meeting in person has not been possible. The ability to still convene, solve situations, collaborate, and make decisions has been tremendously helpful to our operations.
While we look forward to meeting in person, it has been easy for members from various communities to gather without the driving they previously had to do.

In 2021, Stewards Group President, Dennis Tasson, Received an Outstanding Volunteer Award from Grow and Lead: Community and Youth Development (GLCYD) through their U.P. Service Award program. After 22 years of bringing Aspen Ridge 7th grade students to Clear Lake Education Center and 3 years of serving as the Stewards Group President, this award was well-earned. Dennis was honored at a small gathering in his home town of Ishpeming. The ceremony was attended by friends and former colleagues from the middle school.
